tip: walk everywhere in brooklyn if you can. the architecture is beautiful and it’s much cheaper than taking a taxi.
if you are gluten free…
you HAVE to go to modern bread + bagel. they have two manhattan locations, none in brooklyn, but it is 100% worth the trip. the best gf bagel i’ve ever had and the donut made me cry it was so good.
seasame seed bagel w/ cc + lox | modern bread and bagel
glazed donut | modern bread and bagel
some notes…
sunken harbor club
located in dt brooklyn within the restaurant gage+tollner, the sunken harbor club is probably the weirdest, coolest bar i’ve ever been to. it has a speakeasy vibe to it in the sense that you have to tell the hostess of g+t that you have a reservation, and then you follow them through a side door and up a set of stairs. it’s a small space, only seating about twenty people at a time which is why getting a res is highly recommended. the decor is insane, the bartenders are performers, and the drinks are beyond unique.
books are magic
we stumbled upon this bookstore in cobble hill and based on the sign out front, we decided to pop in. definitely glad we did for many reasons, most of all being i finally found a poetry book i’ve been on the hunt for: notes on shapeshifting by gabi abrão. it’s such a beautiful, family-owned independent bookstore and just down the street from a cute wine bar (bee’s knees) where you can go read your new book.
cheers!
